This guide will walk you through the process of uploading files, such as CSV or Excel, as a data source.

1. Click "settings"

Access the settings menu.

Click 'settings'

2. Click "Datasources"

Navigate to the Datasources section.

3. Click "ADD DATASOURCE"

Add a new datasource.

4. Click "browse"

Select the browse option. Select the file that you want to upload.

5. Select the file

6. Rename, if needed

When uploading a file to the platform, you have the option to modify its name before finalizing the upload. The new file name will be the one stored and referenced within the platform.

Requirements:

  • The file name must be unique across the platform.

  • No special characters or spaces are allowed. Only letters, numbers, hyphens (-), and underscores (_) are permitted.

    • If a file name contains special characters or spaces, the system will display an error and prompt you to correct it.

    • If a duplicate file name is detected, you will be asked to choose a different unique name.

7. Click "Upload"

Upload the file.

8. Click "NEXT"

Proceed to the next section.

9. Select the file to add data descriptions

After clicking Next, you will be redirected to a page where you must provide data descriptions for the table. These descriptions play a crucial role in enhancing AI-generated insights.

10. Review AI-generated data descriptions and make edits as needed. Then click "Complete"

Why Data Descriptions Are Important

  • Enhances AI Understanding: The AI uses these descriptions to generate meaningful context when building charts and performing analyses.

  • Improves Accuracy: Well-defined descriptions help the model interpret data correctly, leading to more relevant visualizations and insights.

  • Ensures Consistency: Standardized descriptions allow for better data governance and usability across different users and reports.

Steps to Review and Edit Data Descriptions

  1. Access the Data Description Page

    • After uploading your file, you will be directed to a page displaying the table name, descriptions, and column details.

  2. Review AI-Generated Descriptions

    • The platform will automatically provide descriptions for each column based on its name and detected data type.

    • Ensure that these descriptions accurately reflect the meaning and purpose of each data field.

  3. Edit Descriptions as Needed

    • If any description is incorrect or unclear, click on the text box and update it accordingly.

    • Provide clear, concise, and meaningful explanations to improve AI understanding and analytics accuracy.

  4. Confirm and Complete the Process

    • Once all necessary edits have been made, click the "Complete" button at the bottom of the page.

    • This finalizes the descriptions and allows the AI to use them for enhanced data visualization and analysis.

11. Click "Next"

Move on to the next step.

12. Set Permissions. You can give access to the file to individual users or a role(s).

When adding a new data source, you can control access permissions to ensure that only authorized users or roles can view and manage the file.

Steps to Set Permissions

  1. Assign User or Role-Based Access

  • Use the search bar to find specific roles or users.

  • You can check individual users or roles from the list.

  • Click "Select all" if you want to grant access to all users.

13. Click "Save"

Save the changes.
